Weather and Climate

December and January are the coldest months, with an average high temperature of 61 degrees Fahrenheit (16 Celsius) and an average low of 29F (-2C). Days are usually sunny, with very occasional clouds and rain. The guest cabin rooms are well insulated and only heated with passive solar.

Indoor temperatures in winter will range from the 60s F (upper teens C) in the morning, 70s F (low to mid-20s C) in the afternoon, and gradually cool into the 50s (low teens C) by sunrise. Very occasional cloudy days will keep indoor temperatures in the 50s and 60s F (teens C), and require warmer clothes, hot tea, and soup.

June is the hottest month, with an average high of 96F (36C) and an average low of 61F (16C). The sun is hot, although the rainy season in July, August, and September cool things off a bit. The guest cabin is naturally cooled by the concrete floor, opening the windows to the cool night air, closing the windows and shades during the day, and using an electric fan as necessary.

Indoor temperatures in the summer will range from the 70s F (low to mid 20s C) in the morning, into the 80s F (upper 20s to low 30s C) by mid to late afternoon, immediately cool off after sunset, and cool down to the mid to upper 60s F (upper teens C) by sunrise.

Spring and autumn temperatures are generally very mild and pleasant. Spring is typically very dry and sunny with some windy days. Autumn is beautiful with typically calm and sunny days.

All four seasons are quite pleasant at the Savanna Hermitage where we enjoy a year round mild, sunny climate suitable for outdoor living, practice, and recreation throughout the year.
